THE title High Society could not have been more apt for last night's opening of the Cole Porter classic at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre.
The great and good of Dublin society were seen descending on the venue to check out the latest show, which stars Dynasty actor Michael Praed as Dexter Haven and Sophie Bould as wealthy socialite Tracy Lord.
Described as a taste of vintage Hollywood, it runs in the Dublin theatre until Saturday.
Among those on the guest list and ready to brave the chilly temperatures for a night out were Aoibhinn McGinnity of Love/Hate fame alongside Donal Skehan, Aonghus McAnally, Gay Byrne, David Norris, Rick O'Shea and Diana Bunici.
Adapted from the hit 1956 film starring Bing Crosby, Grace Kelly and Frank Sinatra, High Society tells the story of party girl Tracy, who is in the midst of planning a lavish summer wedding when her ex-husband Dexter Haven turns up to disrupt the proceedings in an attempt to win her back – the thing is, he's not her only suitor.
