The former newsreader has turned into RTE's golden girl and has now been unveiled as the fairer face on the annual pre-All Ireland TV special Up For The Match.
Grainne will be sharing the screen with sports pundit Des Cahill as the two mix it with well-known faces from hurling finalists Waterford and Kilkenny.
Until now, Nationwide host Mary Kennedy was the regular presenter of this show -- which would traditionally take place on the eve of the All-Ireland Hurling and Football Finals.
However, Grainne is now at the helm with Des.
This latest gig will further enhance Grainne's profile with RTE. The Galway girl's chatshow is pivotal in RTE's new autumn schedule and she was among the several RTE stars chosen to grace the RTE Guide cover recently.
Several weeks ago, Grainne's younger sister Sile was unveiled as her new co-presenter on the afternoon chat show Seoige. Grainne's previous on-screen partner Joe O'Shea parted ways with the show during the summer.
It appears that Montrose has major plans for Grainne -- Up For The Match comes hot on the heels of a one-hour special Grainne has recorded for The Panel.
Grainne will host a full-length one-hour episode of the satirical show.
The Panel will move to RTE One for their brand new series this season and so far the station is staying tight lipped as to who will take over the reins as the new host.
