Don't expect to see Brendan Gleeson slapping his mug on any election posters any time soon. Despite his passion for railing against the health service, he has ruled out a stint in politics.
"I have no interest in going into politics. Acting is enough work for me," he said. Instead, he said he would love to write and direct a new movie, based on Flann O'Brien's classic novel.
"Ever since I read At Swim-Two-Birds, I knew I wanted to do something with it. I actually fell out of the bed laughing at it, so I'm trying to turn that into a script and get funding to make it. I've been working on this for years but I recently got the funding."
