Farewell bash for Kathryn and Sile as they head to Kilimanjaro

A HOST of stars turned out to support Kathryn Thomas and her fellow trekkers Sile Seoige, Jenny Buckley and Ruth Scott ahead of their Kilimanjaro climb.

The trio are hoping their climb will raise some much-needed funds for Crumlin's Children's Hospital, and were supported by their many celebrity friends ahead of the trip, which they will depart for tomorrow.

At last night's charity event, RTE star Sile was more loved up than ever with her hunky beau Kim Burrowes.

The couple -- who have been dating for 18 months now -- were all smiles as they partied at celebrity hotspot Lillie's Bordello alongside Sile's travel companions.

The son of legendary writer and creator of cult soap Glenroe Wesley Burrowes, Sile's partner currently works on RTE soap Fair City and has been with the station for more than 17 years.

The media-shy couple appeared to be completely smitten with one another as they made the most of their second last night together.

The four women will spend six nights climbing the 5,895 metre-high mountain in Tanzania alongside up to 30 other volunteers, in order to raise funds for Crumlin's Children Hospital.

Also on hand to wish the Galway beauty well on her forthcoming challenge was her sister Grainne Seoige, who is currently commuting back and forth between London and Dublin for her new role as features editor on ITV breakfast show Daybreak.

The newly single starlet certainly seems to approve of her younger sibling's choice.

The pair happily whiled away the evening chatting while Sile and her fellow celebrities collected money for a raffle organised to raise funds for the worthwhile cause.

It was announced earlier this week that the former TG4 star will begin hosting her own weekend radio slot with Newstalk in the coming weeks.

Grainne, meanwhile, was determined to stay in the background and allow Sile to enjoy the limelight on her big night.

The All Ireland Talent Show host will instead take centre stage today at a photocall to launch acclaimed photographer Barry McCall's new book Pho2ography, which will be sold for charity.

Grainne was obviously keen to get her beauty sleep, retiring early from the party.

Other guests in attendance included members of Kathryn Thomas' family and a number of her friends from home.

Her longterm boyfriend Enda Waters was also on hand to cheer on the TV presenter as she hosted the raffle.

Paul Ryan, husband of 98FM presenter Siobhan O'Connor, was the big winner on the night, walking away with a two-week skiing holiday for two. Siobhan, meanwhile, was in London interviewing Justin Timberlake.
