Fans launch bid to persuade Madonna to bring tour here
MADONNA'S Irish fans have waged a campaign to ensure the Queen of Pop brings her 2012 tour to Ireland.
The superstar, who has just picked up the Best Original Song award at the Golden Globe for movie WE, has thrilled her supporters after confirming that she will be taking to the road again this year to promote her new album.
Provisionally entitled MDNA, the singer said she will play a string of shows to support her 12th studio album, which is due to be released this spring with the new single called Gimme All Your Luvin debuting next month.
And now the popstar has sent the rumour mill into overdrive as to whether she'll be taking to the stage in Ireland during her European tour next June and July.
Her Irish fans have now started an online petition for her to bring her new show over here, given that she hasn't performed in Ireland since August 2004. She took to the stage at Slane Castle where she met with decidedly mixed reviews and sparked controversy over her insistence to perform on a Sunday in keeping with her Kabbalah faith.
More than 75,000 people attended the Irish leg of her Re-Invention Tour, but this time around, music insiders have pinpointed Aviva Stadium as a more suitable venue for the American icon.
