Emmet would love role in gang drama

ACTOR Emmett Scanlan (below) says he would love a leading role in RTE's Love/Hate. The actor is known to soap fans in Ireland and the UK as psychopathic bad boy Brendan in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks. He also starred in Irish film Charlie Casanova alongside Leigh Arnold.

"I've heard great things about Love/ Hate," the 32-year-old told the Herald. "I haven't got round to seeing it yet but I'm going to go buy the box set now. My dad says it's like the Irish Sopranos."

Emmett said he would love a role in the gritty drama.

"Next year if they gave me a call, I'd be delighted to audition," he said at the launch of pop-up boutique, The Designer Shirt Outlet, on Nassau Street.

"Irish crime drama is a massive turn on for me. I like dark and intense parts and the thought of being in such a strong series with such a strong cast really appeals."
