The comedy actor still managed to find time to fit in his wedding to TV host Dawn Porter and the pair tied the knot in August -- but talk of a luxury honeymoon was put on the long finger.
That is until now, with Chris finally bowing to pressure and announcing plans to take a break in his filming schedule to take Dawn on a trip abroad.
The 33-year-old Roscommon native said: "I am going to take a little bit of a break and go on honeymoon.
"I have been working hard this year because I wanted to make hay while the sun shines."
Chris, who enjoyed a starring role in the movie The Sapphires, can't wait for the chance to chill out with his 33-year-old wife.
"I am having so much fun but I would like to see my wife a bit more so I would imagine we'll chill"
It seems Dawn is more than happy to spend some quality time with her husband and has taken to Twitter to describe married bliss with husband Chris whom, she describes as one of her animals.
"Writing and being surrounded by my animals is me at my absolute happiest. Throw in some tea and a packet of Kettle chips and I could die now", said Dawn.
O'Dowd is set to star in a new TV series for US network HBO.
"I've decided I'm going to fly close to the sun and then just burn to death," joked the actor.
