GLOBAL star Michael Buble has told how his confidence was shattered by Simon Cowell -- after the music mogul gave him a withering look.
The singer said he fell apart after Cowell rolled his eyes during a performance on American Idol in 2007 -- to the extent that people thought he was drunk.
Buble said Cowell did not even realise what he had done when he learned of the incident later. But he is now "incredibly nice" to him. The Canadian crooner said: "I had to sing Call Me Irresponsible in front of 20 million people. And the first thing I saw when I got on stage was Simon Cowell.
"I sang about four lines and he looked at me and did this (rolls his eyes dismissively) and that was it, I was done. It killed me. My confidence dropped."
Buble said he becomes more "aloof" when he has a crisis of confidence.
"If you watch the clip on YouTube, I'm so aloof I look bored. And it became quite a thing for me in America because all the news agencies started to report that I was drunk. But I'm such a control freak I would never drink before going on stage."
Cowell only heard about the episode when Buble told Dannii Minogue some years later. She told Cowell didn't even know he had done it.
"But I'm so sensitive I took it as a rejection.
"Anyway, every time I've ever talked to him since then he's been incredibly nice," he added.
