Controversial chef Richard Corrigan has served up some food for thought by announcing he's holding a press conference in the Aviator Lounge of his Bentley's townhouse, on St Stephen's Green, this Friday.

Clearly, organisers are intent on keeping the details of his big announcement nice and fresh as none of the details are being released to the media until tomorrow afternoon.

The invitation also stipulates that Corrigan won't be taking any questions or doing any interviews with journalists before his noon conference, as he's so keen to keep his news under his apron until its official release date.

So now the rumour mill has gone into overdrive as to what Corrigan will be dishing up this Friday, with the media joining him for a tasty lunch afterwards.

Although it's an uncertain time for upmarket restaurants like Bentley's, there's no doubting his venue's popularity among the chattering classes who can still afford to dine out in style.

As well as concentrating on his Dublin eatery, Corrigan has also returned to our small screens with his City Farm programme on RTE 1.

This sees him trying to teach people how to deal with the credit crunch in an innovative manner by bringing back the idea of allotments in Cork and showing viewers how to become self-sufficient by growing their own fruit and vegetables.
