Bressie the life and soul of celeb party

THRONGS of familiar faces welcomed in the new year in style with a spate of parties all over the capital city. Hundreds of revellers poured in to College Green for the inaugural countdown festival.

Hosted by Michele McGrath, a string of big names entertained the crowds over the course of the evening as they helped count down the last hours of 2011.

Among those belting out the hits were The Coronas, Niall Breslin, Paul Brady and Damien Dempsey, as well as a performance from Riverdance stars. And Voice Of Ireland mentor Bressie certainly earned his fee. After the city centre concert was over, he led the troops in to Bucks Townhouse to continue the fun, given that the Leeson Street club was the official aftershow party for the bash.

He took to the decks for a DJ set in the early hours of the morning when the venue was packed to the rafters. Meanwhile, the party was in full swing nearby in Lillies Bordello. Irish hunk Robert Sheehan delighted his female fans by popping in for a drink in the celebrity haunt. Also spotted in there was Glenda Gilson with boyfriend Rob McNaughton, alongside their good pal Alison Canavan.

Publisher Michael O'Doherty was spotted chewing the fat in the members' area, as was Dublin footballer Paul Brogan, who was with a few friends.
