THE Irish author who penned a book about angels is being lined up to appear on American chat shows to talk about her experience.

Lorna Byrne, who wrote Angels in My Hair, is set to appear on a high-profile show, with rumours abounding of an appearance on Oprah.

The autobiography, which describes Lorna's life spent communicating with angels, spent 11 weeks at number one in Ireland last year.

Foreign language rights have been sold for 45 countries and the book is back at number one here.

And the author said that she was thrilled about the positive worldwide response to her book.

"I feel excited, I'm delighted that it's going so well and that I am helping to save peoples' lives," she said. "I've been travelling around to different nations and every single person, regardless of their religion has the light of a guardian angel with them.

"Things have been happening over in America," she added. "I have heard big shows named and one name in particular is in the pipeline."

Lorna is overwhelmed by the number from fans touched by her story. She said that people had become more aware of their angels during the recession.

"A lot of people have lost their way. Not everyone felt the Celtic Tiger. But now I think they want to get back the meaning of life," she said.

"I feel very privileged. I really don't know why God chose me and not someone else. I know that I have to do what he is asking."

Originally from Thomastown in Kilkenny, Lorna now lives in Maynooth with her 13-year-old daughter. And she said that her other three grown-up children are very supportive of her work.

The busy author will travel to America in October and is already planning to write another book.
