Apprentice flop's time to grow up -- Ryanair
Apprentice bosses have laughed at the fact that Ryanair chief Michael O'Leary has taken on Bill Cullen's reject.
Cullen's trusted ally Brian Purcell sniggered when questioned about the fact that "fired" contestant Ronan Whitty had found employment with the no frills airline.
The 27-year-old was kicked off the show on Monday night, after Cullen decided he wasn't up to the task.
But Ryanair has told the Herald it is time for the Wexford man to grow up and he is now set for a real education with the airliner.
Describing Ronan's time on TV3 as "messing about", a spokesperson for Ryanair said normal duty has resumed for the yield analyst.
"Ronan's had enough messing about on TV, now he'll be getting some real-world experience with Ryanair, Europe's most financially secure airline," she said.
POOR
However, TV judge Brian has said the Wexford man deserved his sacking as he "performed poorly in all three tasks so far".
"He needed to step up to the plate and didn't."
Asked what he thought of the fact that Michael O'Leary has since hired Cullen's reject, Brian laughed.
"We hadn't even thought of it like that. It's funny. We only found out in the last few days that he had that job."
But he added that despite Ronan's obvious short-comings on the show, he will make "huge money for Ryanair in the future".
"People talk about the woman behind the man, but Ronan is definitely the man behind the man. He's the kind of person who makes chief executives look good," said Brian.
Monday night's show saw a tense boardroom meeting after contestants donned rabbit suits, sold burgers and hosted a birthday party for fast-food chain Supermacs.
Brian says that things are really going to heat up next week, as the first of the contestants begin to "crumble".
