Dublin Councillor Christy Burke resigns from SF
Tuesday June 09 2009
Dublin City Councillor Christy Burke has resigned from Sinn Fein.
The party has issued a statement today saying it is disappointed by the move and accusing Mr Burke of going against a commitment he made to Sinn Fein when he was endorsed as a candidate for the local elections.
The chair of the party in Dublin, Aengus O'Snodaigh, says Mr Burke fought the local council election and the Dublin Central by-election with the full support of the party.
He says he should honour the commitment he made and resign his council seat.
