EC approves almost €15m for ex-Dell workers
Saturday September 19 2009
Almost €15 million in EU funding is on the way to help workers in Dell who have lost their jobs.
The grant is to help some 2,400 workers find new jobs and is one of the first handed out under new European measures to deal with the economic crisis.
The head of the EU Commission made the announcement as part of a series of meetings in Limerick today.
José Manuel Barroso has met with the Oireachtas Committee on European Affairs and has launched a scathing attack on some of the claims made by anti-Lisbon Treaty campaigners.
He is warning that Ireland could lose its right to nominate an EU commissioner if the Lisbon Treaty is rejected for a second time.
And he is emphatically denying claims that our minimum wage may be cut to €1.84 if we vote Yes to Lisbon.
